What I want to propose in this forum is that Marsudirini high school should form an English debate society where all students' potential in English and debating can be well exercised.
This is going to be a good way to exercise critical thinking and fluency in English. Moreover, the society can be used to find some potential students to represent Marsudirini high school in some debating contest conducted annually by some university, such as Atmajaya, Trisakti, UI, and others.
Hey2 guys, I wanna know what u think bout my proposal?

I think it's a good idea, though most of the user of this forum is were alumnus of Marsudirini. So I think it's useless to create such debate society (at least for now). Anyway... are you one of Marsudirini Bekasi alumnus too? Your English is quite fluent... I get jealous ^^

Good idea. Not only debating championship, other English competitions i.e. speech contests, scrabble, spelling bee are also mushrooming throughout high school year. I strongly recommend marsudirini has some sort of English community regardless what others may say ( probably some would disagree and bring forward some arguments against it )however, it's the impact of globalization maann... you don't speak proper english, you will lag behind. English day might also work, I think. We need to "enforce" students to be conversant and comfortable with their English. I heard from my friends that some national universities have "adopted" English as their academic language. I hope this will continue, otherwise it's just a mere fad to impress freshmen.

I surely can recall my unforgetable debate competition in Trisakti. But without any offence, I really have no idea about your identity since you do not notice it in this forum. I guess, you were probably one of my teammate in Trisakti debate competition. Wish you don't mind to reveal who you're, dude!!!
I'm currently in Yogyakarta continuing my study in Gadjah Mada University, major in chemical engineering.
I'm very pleased to know how's your life now. Can't wait to receive your reply!!!

Hello all.. For all the alumni, let me introduce my self first. My name is CB. Han Christian, most of my students call me Mr. Hans. I have been one of the three English teachers here in Marsud since 2007. So ,it's been about one and a half year now since the first time i taught here. Talking about English Debate Society, FYI, there's a community in English which is actually a stem of a bigger community called MAC (Marsudirini Academy Club). This community deals with various subjects that are commonly competed in many institutions or that have many fans, such as Mandarin, Accounting, English, and even Japan (plus some others subjects). This community's idea emerged completely from the students, and now is already approved by the school and has become an official academic community. In short, i hope debate in English can be also coped and developed well through this community. That's it from me now, if you have further questions, don't hesitate to contact me. YM: christian_zx2000 FB/FS: christian_zx2000@yahoo.co.ukYour inputs will be highly appreciated warm regards, Mr. Hans

Haha I couldn't agree more to this Idea. Putra & Jeanny were my teammates when we participated in Trisakti Debate Competition in 2006. For Mr. Hans, I am now an Active debater ( Atma Jaya Debating Club). For several times, I had sent Marsud invitations to join Highschool English Debate Competitions held by Atma Jaya Debating Club, yet, there weren't any replies or positive response ever. I have no idea whether MAC had really received that invitations or not because I believe It was the headmaster who received it first. Can I just directly send the invitation to you as the Chairman (?) of MAC the next time there is any debate competition for highschool?
